Tired of typing all those chmod and chown commands after installing kexts? Just run this simple sh script and you wont have to any more!

• Run this script after replacing or installing new kexts
  
• Place Script in home directory
  
• after replacing kexts navigate to your home directory in terminal
• type sh extensions.sh
• enter your password when promted
• when you reboot your new kexts should be working

1. boot to dvd
2. get into terminal
3. diskutil unmount /Volumes/DiskName
4.dd if=/usr/standalone/i386/boot1h of=/dev/rdisk?s? bs=512 count=1 (replace the question marks with your disk #'s, they can be found in diskutil, just highlight the osx partition and click info, its under disk identifier)
5. pray to whatever/whoever you want
6. reboot

As I mentioned in an earlier post I was working on getting my emachines m6810 laptop up and running with osx86 again. I currently am running 10.4.8 with the 10.4.4 kernel because I have an amd64 sse2 proccesor. I have qe and ci at 1280x768 with 64mb ddr video ram on my ati9600 mobility. I have my integrated broadcom wireless working along with my ac97 audio. The system works like a dream.

I started tinkering with crossover office and steam and currently have half life and counter strike 1.6 playable with decent graphics settings. denisvj in the #kernel room on macspeak also has Enemy Territory Running. Here you can see some pictures of half life and Enemy Territory. More will follow.

For those of you who still are having issues after fixing the bootloader try setting your partition to active

1. Determine which disk your MacOSX partition is on

• Type diskutil list

• Verify which disk number holds your partition (disk0, disk1, etc.)

2. Use Fdisk to set it active

• type fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 <== use "rdisk" with your disk number here !!
  

• Ignore the error "fdisk: could not open MBR file ..."

3. Determine which partition for MacOSX needs to be set "Active"

• Type p

• Verify which partition is for MacOSX (1, 2, 3, etc.)

4. Set the partition "Active"

• Assuming it is partition 1,type f 1 <== use your partition number here !!

5. Save and exit

• Type write

• Type y (yes you are sure)

• Type exit (to quit)

• Get to terminal
  

1. boot up the osx86 install dvd
2. select tools in the top menu bar
3. select terminal

• Find out which hard disk to install mbr to, if you only have one its rdisk0
• restore mbr with following command

1. fdisk -u /dev/rdisk0
2. hit ender
3. respod with the answer yes to if you want to install new mbr

• Please keep in mind that depending on how many hard drives you have it might not be rdisk0

Currently I am in the proccess of setting up osx86 with 10.4.8 (10.4.4 kernel) on my amd64 sse2 emachines. In the past I have run osx86 on this laptop quite well, getting both integrated broadcom wireless and 1280x800 with qe and ci with my ati9600 mobility. Hopefully I can get it perfrorming well again. I have long searched for the ability to view MSN web cams on Mac OS X and finally I have stumbled onto this amazing program, aMSN. After testing the program out for the past week I could not be happier. The application launches flawlessly on both my intel and powerpc machines and video support works great even with my firewire camera. I strongly suggest everyone gives this application a try, now if only someone would create an alternative aim client with video support.

The other day I was over my friends house playing around with his G5 imac and noticed how much fun photobooth really is. Unfortunatly for me I only have a powerbook and no built in I-Sight. After searching for solutions and finding nothing, I decided it was time to grab myself photobooth and plug my firewire camera in. Thankfully it worked flawlessly and now I am in photobooth bliss.

1. Get ahold of photobooth
2. hook up firewire camera
3. run photobooth
   
4. enjoy
